Inpatient Consultation Services

Our inpatient infectious disease consultation services provide specialized evaluation and management for hospitalized patients with acute, chronic, or medically complex infections. We collaborate directly with hospitalists, surgeons, intensivists, wound care specialists, pharmacists, and case management teams to deliver coordinated, high-level infectious disease care.

Our inpatient consultation services commonly include the diagnosis and management of:

  • Sepsis and bloodstream infections

  • Multidrug-resistant infections (MDROs)

  • Pneumonia and respiratory infections

  • Surgical site and postoperative infections

  • Device-related and PICC line infections

We also assist with discharge planning, outpatient IV antibiotic therapy (OPAT), infection prevention strategies, and antimicrobial stewardship to help reduce complications, hospital readmissions, and unnecessary antibiotic exposure.

Outpatient Consultation Services

Our outpatient infectious disease clinic offers comprehensive consultations, follow-up care, and advanced infusion therapy services in a comfortable, patient-focused environment. Infusion Services Available 7 Days a Week

To better serve our patients and support continuity of care, our infusion services operate seven days a week. This allows patients to receive timely treatment without unnecessary interruptions, delays, or extended hospital stays.

Wound Care

Advanced Wound Healing Through Collaborative Specialty Care

At Infectious Disease Associates of North Central Florida, we are proud to partner closely with the AdventHealth Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center, where our providers actively care for patients requiring advanced wound management, infectious disease treatment, and Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Therapy.

The AdventHealth Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center serves as the primary facility where our patients receive specialized wound care services under the direct collaboration of our infectious disease team and wound care specialists. This multidisciplinary approach allows patients to receive comprehensive, coordinated treatment focused on healing complex wounds while aggressively managing underlying infections.

Our providers specialize in the treatment of:

  • Chronic non-healing wounds

  • Diabetic foot ulcers and infections

  • Osteomyelitis (bone infections)

  • Surgical wound infections

  • Cellulitis and soft tissue infections

  • Pressure ulcers

  • Multidrug-resistant wound infections

For patients requiring advanced therapies, we work alongside the wound care and hyperbaric medicine teams to help coordinate Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Therapy, advanced wound treatments, outpatient IV antibiotic therapy (OPAT) in our office, and ongoing infection management.

Our infectious disease team focuses on early diagnosis, prevention, individualized treatment, and long-term wellness in a supportive, judgment-free environment.

PrEP Prevention Services

PrEP is a highly effective daily medication for individuals who may be at increased risk for HIV. When taken consistently, PrEP is over 99% effective at preventing HIV through sexual exposure.

Expert HIV Treatment

HIV is treated with Antiretroviral Therapy (ART), a daily medication regimen designed to suppress the virus, protect the immune system, and prevent progression of disease.

  • Reduce complications

  • Prevent progression to AIDS

  • Allow patients to live full, healthy lives

When HIV becomes undetectable through treatment, it cannot be sexually transmitted — known as Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U).

340B Program Support

Through our 340B Program, eligible patients may have access to significantly reduced medication costs for HIV and PrEP treatment. Our team works closely with patients to help improve access to medications, maintain treatment consistency, and reduce financial barriers to care.

Antimicrobial Stewardship

At Infectious Diseases Associates of North Central Florida, antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention are central to our commitment to safer, higher-quality healthcare throughout the Greater Ocala region. Led by Soosaipillai Ivan, MD, our practice works closely with hospitals, pharmacists, infection prevention teams, wound care specialists, rehabilitation facilities, and frontline healthcare providers to promote responsible antibiotic use and strengthen patient safety across all care settings.

With more than 20 years serving the Ocala community, Dr. Ivan has become a trusted regional leader in infectious diseases, infection prevention, and antimicrobial stewardship. His work focuses on ensuring patients receive the right antibiotic, at the right dose, for the right duration — helping reduce antibiotic resistance, medication-related complications, healthcare-associated infections, and Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) infections while improving overall patient outcomes.

In addition to providing infectious disease consultation throughout the region, Dr. Ivan has held numerous leadership positions dedicated to infection control, antimicrobial stewardship, and healthcare quality improvement, including:
